My race recap of the Leith Hill Half Marathon from last weekend is now online. Click here or use the drop down list at the top of the page, under Race Reviews.
I recorded most of the race on my new 360 degree camera, so check that out above and if you’re so minded, click through to YouTube and hit subscribe.
It really does help! And my race recap and video of the following day’s Big Half will be up later this week.
I’ve been fairly quiet on here recently, partially because work has meant I haven’t had as much time as usual to write anything and partially because the number of races I would usually run have been cut short.
I’ve been finding my way back into my speed and training is going well. One marathon in January eased me back into the distance (and I’ll write a recap at some point), followed followed by an attempted second marathon which I had to abandon after 10k. A trapped nerve in my foot made my entire right foot go entirely numb and that plagued me for the next week.
A couple of races were cancelled due to various storms crashing over England and before I knew it I was at the end of February. I have two half marathons and one marathon coming up in March, which takes me up to my wedding and honeymoon at the end of March. When I’m back in April, full on marathon and ultra season begins! Yippee!
In the meantime, I’ve bought myself a pair of customised Nike Infinity Runs and a 360 degree camera for race filming. Above it my first test of both, produced in a hurry so far from perfect. But it was good to be out filming again.
After a rather eventful running year, with a number of highs and number of lows, I’ve written a bit of a whistle stop tour. Have a read here.
And on to 2020…!
Well. How to even start to summarise this weekend. For those who don’t know I was invited, along with six others, to fly out to Barcelona with Salomon to take part in their first ever Unexpected Run Weekend. My recap of the weekend is available here and also under “Races” at the top of this page, even if it wasn’t a race.
Trail running, star gazing, an interview with Kilian Jornet, firedancing and hot air balloon riding, it was a weekend that won’t ever be forgotten. Have a read and thank you again to Salomon Running for the experience.
My race recap of the Centurion Running Wendover Woods 50 Miler is now online, either by clicking here or by using the “Race Reviews” tab at the top of this page.
The review includes a section at the end on the training recce run with a group of colleagues and friends, in preparation for next year’s Yellowhammer Ultra Marathon.
And this weekend, there’s something special coming… Watch this space 🙂
It’s been a particularly long week and while I’ve got a few runs in (some good, some not so good), it’s been difficult to do anything worthy of blog content.
So this week I’m going to settle for a Throw Back Thursday – to RunThrough Victoria Park Half Marathon in March 2018.
That race is still my Half Marathon PB – 1:22:48. I haven’t run many pure half marathons in the past year, with the focus on ultras. But now the sub-3 hour marathon training is back on there should be a few speedy half marathons along the way.
This past weekend I ran my 50th lifetime marathon at Richmond Runfest – 49 of which in the last two years. My recap of the race is now online here, or by selecting “Race Reviews” from the drop down menu at the top of the page.
My (very belated) race recap of the One Run to Find Them All ultra marathon is now available here or under the “Race Review” tab at the top of the page. The race rounded out my ultra marathon season and completed my 26 ultra marathons in 52 weeks challenge.
This weekend was the North Downs Way 100 Mile. Once again my nutrition issues struck and I pulled out at Mile 50. My recap of the race is now available here or by using the “Race Reviews” menu at the top of the page.
